We are seeking a dynamic and passionate 7th-12th Grade Social Studies Teacher to inspire and educate students in understanding the complexities of history, geography, civics, and economics. Duties

- Incorporate diverse teaching methods, including project-based learning, discussions, multimedia resources, and technology integration to enhance student engagement
- Utilize curriculum development skills to design age-appropriate instructional materials that promote critical analysis and historical understanding
- Assess student progress through formative and summative evaluations, including standardized testing preparation and project assessments
- Maintain classroom management that fosters a respectful, inclusive environment conducive to active learning and positive behavior
- Provide mentorship and academic advising to support students’ social-emotional growth and academic achievement
- Collaborate with colleagues on interdisciplinary projects, school initiatives, and curriculum enhancements using instructional design principles
- Engage in ongoing professional development related to education administration, literacy education, research methodologies, and educational technology tools such as learning management systems
Skills
- Strong knowledge of social studies content areas, including history, geography, civics, economics, and related disciplines such as linguistics and journalism
- Expertise in curriculum development, lesson planning, instructional design, and assessment strategies tailored for grades 7 through 12
- Proficiency with learning technology platforms and digital tools to facilitate interactive lessons and virtual learning environments
- Excellent communication skills for effective classroom instruction, parent engagement, and team collaboration
- Experience with classroom management techniques that promote a positive learning atmosphere while addressing diverse student needs,including special education or Montessori approaches
- Ability to proofread and copy edit educational materials following the Chicago Manual of Style or AP style guidelines for clarity and professionalism
- Demonstrated mentoring skills to support student growth in literacy education, creative writing, research projects, or standardized testing preparation
- Organizational skills necessary for managing multiple classes, lesson plans, assessments, and extracurricular activities effectively
- Familiarity with library services for research support and integrating academic advising into daily instruction
- Prior private school experience or background in higher education teaching enhances your ability to connect with varied student populations
