Qualifications
High School Diploma

Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in ability to safely and effectively operate standard food service equipment
Overview
This position reports directly to Food Service supervisor 3, Food Service Assistant Manager and is assigned to the Military Department Food Service section that oversees bakery items for an average of 200 + military personnel daily, with an occasional 400+ personnel day. McGhee Tyson is one of the largest National Guard bases in the United States. It is the only full-time dining facility in the Air National guard, and it is the only base that trains Air National Guard, Active-Duty Air Force, Air Force Reserves, sister components, and host foreign nationals for non-commissioned officer training and Airman Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Prepare, produce, and bake breakfast pastries, breads, rolls, and all desserts.
- Develop new products for menus on a rotating basis.
- Decorate baked goods, such as cream pies, using a pastry bag and prepare garnishes as needed.
- Sets time and speed controls for mixing and blending machines so that ingredients will be mixed or cooked according to instructions.
- Measure or weigh ingredients to prepare batters, doughs, fillings, or whipped cream, using scales or graduated containers.
- Maintains adequate supply of all prepared products and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration.
- Lines up baked products in mobile carts according to the needs of the particular outlet or function.
- Utilizes any and all leftovers into usable products.
- Cleans, breaks down, and puts away all baking equipment including: ovens, mixers, proofer, floors, freezer, and refrigerators.
