Steel and Rye Baker

The Bakery at Steel & Rye is an in-house bread-focused bakery which serves both the public (at our Bakery Cafe Counter) and our two restaurants: Steel & Rye in Milton, and Prairie Fire in Brookline. The menu encapsulates a sourdough bread program, laminated pastries and seasonal sweet and savory items.

This position is full-time: schedule to be determined – hours will be consistent on a weekly basis once candidate is trained. Must have reliable transportation for early mornings to Milton/Lower Mills. This candidate will be trained in all areas of bread and pastry production while working closely with the Bakery Team, then move on to work independently where required.

Job requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years professional bread baking experience
  • Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Maintain all food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently for majority of each shift
  • Work in a clean and organized manner
  • Availability weekdays and weekends
  • Demonstrate ownership of the work and have desire to grow with the company

Pay: $22.00 – $24.00 per hour (compensation based on experience). Benefits include employee discounts and supplemented health care costs.
