Hourly Rate: $5/hour + tips

Schedule: Open Availability including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Reports to: General Manager
The General Manager will be responsible for confirming your schedule each week.
About Bark Social: Bark Social is a one-of-a-kind, dog-friendly social club featuring an off-leash dog park, full bar, specialty café, and premium dog daycare services. We are a high-energy, community-driven space where dogs and humans alike gather to eat, drink, and play.
Position Summary: We are seeking a reliable, detail-oriented Café Canine Chef to join our Culinary Team at Bark Social – Canton. This role is responsible for safely preparing, heating, and serving precooked food from our trusted vendors using specialized equipment such as the Merrychef oven. The cook will follow all food safety protocols and execute consistent, high-quality breakfast, snack, and entrée items per our set menu. This position supports a clean, smooth, and efficient back-of-house operation, ensuring our human guests receive great food that enhances their Bark Social experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and serve food according to Bark Social’s menu using equipment like the Merrychef and prep station
- Participate in the food deliveries, organization, clean up, and logging on inventory.
- Safely handle and reheat all precooked food per HACCP and Baltimore City Health Department guidelines
- Possibly participate in morning service for breakfast and coffee offerings, ensuring freshness and consistency
- Assist in receiving and inventorying all café-related deliveries, including:
- Foods (precooked food and supplies)
- Coffee/Bakery vendors (as needed)
- Maintain a clean and organized kitchen space during and after shifts
- Follow all SafeServ and internal sanitation procedures and documentation
- Coordinate with serving team to ensure seamless service to the café window
- Communicate kitchen or inventory needs to the General Manager promptly
- Participate in monthly deep cleanings and health inspection preparations
- Assist with temporary tasks as part of an “all hands on deck” approach during high-volume periods
Compensation: This position starts at $5 per hour plus tips. Tips are pooled and distributed based on hours worked and team performance. In addition to pay, all culinary team members are eligible for SafeServ Food Handler certification, advancement opportunities, and shift perks in a fun, dog-friendly work environment.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Prior kitchen or food handling experience preferred, but not required
- Must obtain SafeServ Food Handler Certification (complimentary training provided if not certified)
- Ability to operate kitchen equipment and follow strict safety protocols
- Must be punctual, detail-oriented, and able to work independently
- Must be comfortable around dogs in an off-leash environment
- Ability to lift 30–50 lbs and stand for extended periods
- Flexible availability preferred, especially mornings and weekends
All Hands on Deck: As Bark Social continues to grow, team members may occasionally be asked to step outside their primary role to assist with other operations as needed. This includes supporting front-of-house service or dog-related tasks during high-traffic periods. Flexibility and teamwork are key to our shared success.
At-Will Employment: Employment with Bark Social is at-will, meaning either the employee or Bark Social may terminate the employment relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice, and for any lawful reason. Nothing in this job description constitutes a contract or alters the at-will nature of the employment.
