Building Automation Specialist Jobs in Huntsville, AL at NEXTRINSIC CORP

Responsibilities:

1. UCS Control Room Operations

  • Staff the UCS Control Room 24/7/365 and maintain continuous surveillance of all UCS‑connected points.
  • Monitor, analyze, and review all UCS‑connected equipment and comfort‑zone parameters.
  • Initiate Trouble Calls (TCs) using IBM Maximo or other Government‑provided interfaces in accordance with the PWS.

2. Standard Operating Procedures (SOP)

  • Maintain all SOPs in accordance with DRD 1835MA‑001.
  • Validate SOPs against customer definition files and update them semi‑annually or upon Government request.
  • Follow SOP‑defined prioritization and notification procedures for alarms and abnormal conditions.

3. Fire Alarm System Monitoring

  • Monitor the fire alarm system network 24/7/365.
  • Immediately notify Security and the Fire Department upon receipt of alarms via phone and/or handheld radio.

4. Daily Events Log (DEL)

  • Maintain a comprehensive Daily Events Log (DEL) documenting all significant events and any additional information requested by the Government.
  • Include enhanced reporting for NASA Critical Infrastructure (NCI) facilities.
  • Significant events include, but are not limited to:
  • Power/utility outages
  • Critical/non‑critical system failures
  • Leaks of any kind
  • Environmental hazards (spills, releases, emergencies)
  • Injuries, accidents, or safety issues
  • Alarms and unusual odors
  • Security issues
  • Ongoing work and facility impacts
  • Unauthorized equipment operation
  • Status of CCWP systems and deionized water facility
  • Scheduled outages (electrical, steam, water, asbestos, etc.)
  • Extreme weather data
  • Email the DEL Report to the Government and approved personnel by 7:00 AM each business day, covering:
  • The previous 24 hours (Tuesday–Friday)
  • The previous 72 hours (Monday)
  • Ensure NASA FOMSS team members and other Government‑approved personnel have real‑time, read‑only access to the DEL.

5. BAS Data Access & Analysis

  • Access, retrieve, review, and disseminate accurate information related to service requests, incidents, problem resolution, operational status, costs, estimates, and usage.
  • Utilize BAS historical data, trends, records, reports, and logs as requested and approved by the Government.

6. BAS Hardware & Database Support

  • Add new hardware‑connected points to the BAS database as requested.
  • Terminate wires at controller card terminal strips to support new hardware points.
  • Maintain the BAS database and perform daily system backups to ensure data integrity.
  • Verify operational readiness of:
  • Backup host servers (daily)
  • Portable contingency servers (daily)
  • Report any downtime or failures immediately upon discovery.

7. Programming & Controls Support

  • Program all UCS‑connected programmable field devices that communicate with the MSFC BAS unless otherwise directed.
  • Make control program changes based on building occupancy changes and in accordance with MSFC design standards and published occupancy schedules.
  • Program/reload controller cards as required due to repair, replacement, or database loss.

8. Trouble Call Desk Support

  • Provide trouble call desk support:
  • Holidays, weekends, and 4:00 PM–6:00 AM on workdays.
  • Additional support during special circumstances when the desk is unmanned.
  • Enter all trouble calls into MSFC’s CMMS (currently IBM Maximo) or other approved interfaces.
  • Immediately notify appropriate contacts via phone and/or radio for emergency and urgent calls.

Call Types:

  • Emergency – Immediate action required to eliminate hazards, prevent damage, or restore essential services.
  • Urgent – Conditions that may soon inconvenience personnel, affect health/well‑being, or disrupt missions.
  • Routine – All other calls not classified as emergency or urgent.

9. Facility Occupancy & Extended Run Reporting

  • Document facility occupancy or extended equipment run data for services/utilities operating outside normal schedules.
  • Include this information in the Monthly Status Report per DRD 1835MA‑005.

10. Control Room Key Cabinet

  • Maintain the Control Room Key Cabinet.
  • Implement a secure key checkout procedure.
  • Conduct and document a daily key inventory.

11. Outage Support

  • Support all outages and attend coordination meetings as required by the Government.

Qualifications:

· 2+ years of experience in Building Automation Solutions, Control Room, Facilities Maintenance environment, Instrumentation experience

· High School Diploma or GED

Flexibility to cover all shifts as needed. 6 months of training on 1st shift M-F.

Pay: $38.00 – $40.00 per hour
