Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated Canine Playgroup Supervisor to oversee and coordinate engaging, safe, and enriching play sessions for dogs in our community. This role involves supervising dog interactions, ensuring proper handling, and maintaining a positive environment that promotes canine socialization and well-being. The ideal candidate will possess strong animal handling skills, veterinary knowledge, and a passion for pet care. Responsibilities
- Supervise daily canine playgroup activities, ensuring all dogs interact safely and appropriately
- Monitor dog behavior continuously, intervening when necessary to prevent conflicts or injuries
- Assist with dog training exercises to promote good manners and social skills
- Handle dogs using humane restraint techniques and ensure their comfort during play sessions
- Maintain a clean and organized play area, including pet grooming and sanitation routines
- Support veterinary technicians or assistants with basic animal health assessments when needed
- Provide excellent customer service by communicating effectively with pet owners regarding their dogs’ behavior and well-being
- Assist with heavy lifting of supplies or equipment related to playgroup operations
- Document observations related to dog behavior, health concerns, or incidents accurately
- Collaborate with team members to develop enrichment activities that enhance canine socialization
- Transport dogs to and from the play facility
Experience
- Prior experience in dog handling, training, or pet care is highly desirable
- Veterinary technician or assistant experience is beneficial for understanding animal health needs
- Kennel experience or background in animal handling and restraint techniques is preferred
- Knowledge of pet grooming, pet sitting, or animal care practices is advantageous
- Strong customer service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with pet owners
- Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and perform active supervision duties
- Familiarity with veterinary procedures or veterinary experience enhances suitability for this role
- Clean driving record
- Valid drivers licence
