- Shift: 12-hour rotating shifts, 3 days per week (including weekends, nights, and weekdays)
- Call Schedule: No call required
- Average Census: 8-12 patients
- EMR: EPIC
- Supervising Physician: On-site during day shift; available by phone at night
- Intensivists: Available 24/7
Job Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Physician Assistant (PA) in acute care, critical care, or cardiovascular surgery
- Board certified (NCCPA preferred) or equivalent professional certification
- Acute Care / Critical Care training and certification
- Active Michigan PA license required
- Current ACLS and BLS certifications (AHA)
- Proven ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced hospital setting
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive care for vascular and post-cardiovascular surgery patients in the CVICU
- Perform bedside procedures including thoracentesis, chest tube insertions/removals, central venous and dialysis catheter placement, arterial lines, and management of intra-aortic balloon pumps
- Conduct frequent neuro checks and monitor post-surgical patients for changes in status
- Support cardiovascular surgery consults, including weekend coverage as needed
- Document all patient care and procedures accurately in EPIC EMR
- Collaborate closely with supervising physicians, intensivists, and the multidisciplinary care team
