Chief Financial Officer
A privately held real estate investment and operating firm is seeking a hands-on Chief Financial Officer to lead all financial operations in a lean, entrepreneurial environment. This individual will serve as a strategic business partner to ownership while maintaining direct involvement in the day-to-day accounting and finance functions of the company.
The ideal candidate is a CPA with strong real estate experience who is comfortable operating at both a strategic and tactical level. This role requires someone who can build processes, oversee financial reporting, manage lender and investor relationships, and support the continued growth of the platform across acquisitions, development, and operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all accounting, finance, treasury, and reporting functions for the company and affiliated entities
- Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting, including preparation and review of GAAP-compliant financial statements
- Manage cash flow forecasting, liquidity planning, and banking relationships
- Supervise all aspects of budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis across the portfolio
- Coordinate with external auditors, tax advisors, lenders, legal counsel, and other third-party service providers
- Oversee property-level and corporate accounting functions, including consolidations and intercompany activity
- Review partnership agreements, loan documents, and development proformas to support acquisitions, refinancings, and asset management initiatives
- Monitor debt compliance, reporting requirements, and covenant testing
- Develop and improve internal controls, financial processes, and operational efficiencies appropriate for a lean organization
- Assist ownership with strategic planning, investment analysis, and business decision-making
- Support capital raising efforts and investor reporting as needed
- Manage payroll, insurance, corporate compliance, and other administrative finance functions
Qualifications
- CPA designation required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with significant experience in real estate investment, development, property management, or private equity real estate
- Strong understanding of real estate accounting, partnership structures, and property-level financial operations
- Experience with debt financing, lender reporting, and cash management
- Proven ability to operate effectively in a small, entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
- Hands-on mentality with willingness to manage both strategic initiatives and day-to-day execution
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and real estate/accounting software platforms
