Company: High Country Search Group
Location: Colorado, United States
Company Overview:
High country Search has been exclusively retained by a rapidly scaling, well-funded infrastructure construction platform—built by industry veterans—that is transforming the way fiber, utility, and mission-critical civil infrastructure is delivered across the United States. With best-in-class equipment, modern construction practices, and a long-term vision for nationwide expansion, the company is positioned for significant multi-state growth and continued diversification across emerging verticals.
Position Overview:
The Chief Operating Officer will serve as the CEO’s right hand and lead all construction operations nationwide, stabilizing the current footprint while building the organizational structure, systems, and teams needed for the next phase of growth. It’s an exceptional opportunity for a proven operator—or a high-trajectory VP/Regional VP ready for the next step—to architect a national operating system and play a defining role in the future of a high-growth construction platform. This role is fully-remote, but strong preferences are given to candidates present in or able to frequently travel to CO, TX, NV, CA, AZ, UT, NM and OR.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee all national operations, including field execution, safety, quality, PMO, and customer delivery.
- Build and lead the organizational structure for multi-state growth, developing strong regional leaders with full P&L accountability.
- Implement standardized systems, processes, and KPIs to replace ad hoc workflows and drive consistent execution.
- Scale self-perform operations through effective equipment planning, crew deployment, and utilization strategies.
- Manage budgets, forecasting, backlog delivery, and overall operational financial performance.
- Champion a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
- Partner with executive leadership on resource planning, expansion strategy, customer management, and entry into new verticals.
- Identify and mitigate operational risks; ensure proactive issue resolution and reliable project delivery.
- Strengthen customer fulfillment models and ensure consistent, high-quality service across all markets.
- Fully own operational execution to free the CEO from day-to-day issue management, while embedding a data-driven, collaborative leadership culture.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- 20+ years of leadership experience in construction, telecom/OSP, utility, or infrastructure.
- Proven ability to scale multi-state operations with significant backlog, crew utilization, and full P&L oversight.
- Strong background leading field operations, PMO, and large-scale project delivery.
- Financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, and margin/KPI improvement.
- Experience expanding self-perform capabilities and optimizing equipment and crew utilization.
- Track record of building and developing high-performing regional and functional leadership teams.
- High systems and technology literacy with the ability to implement standardized workflows at scale.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across field and executive environments.
- Willingness to travel frequently to national markets and project sites.
