Role Description

We are seeking an exceptional writer, editor, and analytical thinker who wants to build a long-term professional career working directly with one of the world's leading specialty surgeons.
Dr. Shirin Towfigh is an internationally recognized hernia surgeon whose patients travel from across the United States and around the world for complex abdominal wall, groin, and pelvic hernia care. Beyond clinical practice, Dr. Towfigh is a surgeon, educator, researcher, inventor, speaker, and entrepreneur. She has authored numerous scientific publications and book chapters, developed physician education programs, founded the Beverly Hills Hernia Foundation, hosts the HerniaTalk Live podcast, and serves as Founder and CEO of Hexagon Health, a medical technology company advancing innovation in abdominal wall surgery.

Your Role
You will serve as Dr. Towfigh's Clinical Documentation & Medical Communications Specialist.
Your work will include:
Clinical Documentation
- Transform AI-generated office notes into polished, physician-quality documentation.
- Organize complex medical histories spanning years of outside records.
- Review operative reports, imaging studies, consultations, and outside medical records.
- Create concise medical timelines and summaries.
- Learn and apply Dr. Towfigh's unique documentation style and clinical reasoning.
Medical Writing
Draft:
- Insurance appeals
- Gap exception requests
- Medical necessity letters
- Prior authorization narratives
- Referral letters
- Physician correspondence
Academic & Educational Projects
Assist with:
- Research manuscripts
- Book chapters
- Scientific presentations
- Continuing Medical Education (CME) materials
- Educational content online and on social media
- Internal documentation systems
Operative reports are completed by the surgeon and are not part of this role.

Qualifications
At minimum, a Bachelor's degree is required.

Work Environment
This is a hybrid position.
Following an initial training period, the position will generally involve:
- In-person collaboration during office clinic days.
- Remote work during operating room days, physician travel, and independent writing projects.
Finalists will participate in a paid two-week working assessment to ensure an excellent long-term fit for both the candidate and the practice.
