Role Description As the Co-Founder & Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) | Pre-Seed TechBio / ALS Specialist, you will lead the scientific vision and strategy for CureForge International Inc.™ in a full-time, remote capacity. You will oversee the design and execution of ALS-focused research programs, integrating AI-accelerated methods into experimental workflows and ensuring scientific rigor across all projects. Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and validating disease models, guiding target discovery and biomarker strategies, and collaborating with technical teams to shape data pipelines and platform capabilities. You will work closely with the founding team to define the product roadmap, build scientific partnerships, and support fundraising by communicating the scientific value and differentiation of the company. The role also involves mentoring a growing scientific team, establishing best practices for data integrity and compliance, and representing CureForge in scientific, clinical, and industry forums.
Qualifications
- Strong analytical skills to interpret complex biological, clinical, and experimental datasets, and to guide data-driven decision-making in ALS and TechBio research.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying scientific concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders, writing grant and investor materials, and presenting at conferences or partner meetings.
- Demonstrated experience in sales or partnership-adjacent activities, such as engaging key opinion leaders, supporting business development discussions, or contributing to investor pitches.
- Marketing-related capabilities to help position the scientific platform, contribute to thought leadership content, and align scientific messaging with company strategy.
- Advanced research expertise in ALS, neurodegeneration, or related fields, with a track record of peer-reviewed publications, translational work, or drug discovery programs.
- PhD, MD, or equivalent advanced degree in a relevant life science or biomedical discipline; postdoctoral or industry experience in neurology, neurobiology, or related areas is highly desirable.
- Experience integrating computational, AI, or data science approaches into wet-lab research, including familiarity with multi-omics, high-throughput screening, or systems biology.
- Proven leadership in early-stage or pre-seed startups, research groups, or cross-functional teams, with the ability to operate in a fast-changing, resource-constrained environment.
- Proven experience designing and executing validation assays specifically for ALS mechanisms.
- Deep mechanistic knowledge of broader neurodegenerative pathways.
