TITLE: Cook DIVISION: Food Service
REPORTS TO: Food Service Manager
_ REQUIREMENTS: _
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- _ One year of food service experience._
- _ Knowledge and ability in quantity cooking._
- _ Physical ability to lift and move kitchen apparatus and equipment as needed. Ability to perform janitorial duties required for maintaining sanitary conditions._
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 lbs. with assistance.
- _ Ability to remain calm and positive during stressful situations._
- _ Positive attitude toward people with disabilities._
FUNCTION: The Cook is responsible for the preparation and serving of meals provided by S.E.D. #1. He/she is also responsible for maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the food service area as required.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Cook will be knowledgeable with S.E.D. #1 policies and procedures as set forth in the S.E.D. #1 Policy Manual and S.E.D. #1 Handbook.
2. Assist in maintaining all program health standards as required by the Board of Health.
3. Assist in cleaning the kitchen at the direction of the Food Service Manager.
4. Prepare:
a. Meals.
b. Serving line and serve meals.
c. Next day food items.
d. Special meals as needed.
5. Order and/or receive supplies from vendors and stock as needed.
6. Report to work on time and attend work for the required number of days.
7. Effectively communicate as needed with:
a. Participants.
b. Co-workers.
c. Parents.
d. Interagency Personnel.
e. Customers.
f. Executive Director.
8. Adhere to confidentiality policies concerning participants, families, and co-workers.
9. Follow job safety standards and procedures as outlined in the S.E.D. #1 Handbook.
10. Ability to supervise adult service clients assigned to job duties in Food Services.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Promote the agency and its mission in providing services and supports to people with
disabilities.
2. Actively participate in planning sessions.
3. Attend training sessions as required.
4. Maintain a positive attitude in the performance of job duties.
5. Maintain flexibility and accept adjustments in job functions as required.
