About The Role

Viasat is seeking a dedicated Trade Compliance Specialist to join our global trade compliance team. This role is integral to ensuring our export and import operations adhere to international regulations and standards. The successful candidate will support multiple Viasat locations worldwide, handling classification, documentation, and compliance processes related to export controls and trade regulations. This position offers flexibility in work arrangements, including fully remote, hybrid, or onsite options at various Viasat offices. The role requires a proactive individual capable of making autonomous decisions, managing multiple priorities, and working effectively within a team environment. You will be responsible for classifying parts and equipment, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with export documentation requirements such as commercial invoices, shipper’s instructions, carnets, and EEI filings. Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in export controls and export shipping documentation
  • At least 1 year of classification experience, including ECCN and HS codes
  • Knowledge of Export Administration Regulations (EAR)
  • Familiarity with Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) regulations
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
  • Ability to work independently and make informed decisions
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively within diverse teams
  • Willingness to adapt to change and handle multiple priorities under pressure
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy in documentation and classification tasks

Responsibilities

  • Determine and document classification designations for parts and equipment in accordance with applicable regulations
  • Complete and maintain accurate records of export and import documentation
  • Prepare and review commercial invoices, shipper’s letters of instructions, carnets, and EEI filings to ensure compliance
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to support trade compliance initiatives
  • Monitor and interpret changes in export control laws and regulations, implementing necessary adjustments
  • Assist in audits and compliance reviews related to export and import activities
  • Provide guidance and support to other teams regarding export classification and documentation requirements
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of export licensing procedures and documentation processes
  • Support process improvements to enhance efficiency and compliance in trade operations
