A Support Specialist works with individuals with special needs in the person’s home, at a base site or in the community. As a DSP, you will provide assistance and support to people with special needs in areas that may include but not limited to: community access, supervision, household support, employment, individual protocols, personal care, and/or money management. We will provide you with comprehensive paid training and support as you create fun and nurturing experiences for the people we serve. Requirements:

  • GED or High School Diploma
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Reliable vehicle
  • Use of personal vehicle w/ mileage reimbursement or company vehicle if available

  • Physical Requirements: ability to lift 50lbs, ability to push/pull a minimum of 200lbs, ability to run, stay with, catch up to individuals served with elopement needs, ability to bend, reach, twist, and squat.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

· Work with assigned individuals according to weekly schedule.

· Teach/role model the skills as identified by the persons IP (Individualized Plan). This could include: Community Access, Supervision, Individual Protocols (behavior, medical, elopement, toileting, transfer), Employment & Career Coaching, Money Management, Support the person to develop connections/relationships in their local community, Support and encourage the person in making responsible choices.

· Document daily contact notes, ISSP (Individualized Support & Service Plan) Data Tracking, incident reports, and assist/complete other assessments or paperwork

within 24 hours of working with the person/people.

· Assist people served with medical/personal care needs including but not

limited to: Changing/restroom assistance, Car transferring, Wheelchair access, Seizure / medication needs, Bending, reaching, twisting, squatting are required when assisting people served with repositioning, transferring and other activities of daily living.

· Lift a minimum of: 50 pounds & push/ pull a minimum of 200 pounds. Physical ability to run / stay with / catch up to individuals served with elopement needs.

We are adding to our team immediately! Initial interviews are held virtually, on-site and/or in person at Garden. Out of state applicants need not apply.

Work Location:

  • On site and in the community.
  • FT position: 8:45 a.m.- 5:00 – 5:30 p.m. (M-TH; 1/2 day Friday)
  • PT position: 2:30 p.m.- 5:30 p.m. (M-F varied days)

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $19.29 – $20.00 per hour
