Primary Purpose
To ensure effective implementation of district systems, compliance with federal and state requirements, and consistent service delivery across campuses by assisting in operationalizing department priorities, supervising assigned staff, and supporting continuous improvement efforts to enhance outcomes for students with disabilities.
Qualifications
Education:
Master's degree or higher from accredited college or university in administration or related field
Mid-Management Certificate, Principal Standard Certificate, or Supervisor Certificate, preferred
Valid Texas teaching certificate with special education endorsement, preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills
Effective communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Knowledge and understanding of special education programs, professional development, including applicable laws and regulations
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Strong organization skills
Understanding of the individual needs of students with disabilities
Experience
Five years' special education/teaching experience
Three years' administrative experience in an educational setting
Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment, including personal computer and peripherals
Posture: Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting
Motion: Repetitive hand motions including frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching
Lifting: Occasional light lifting and carrying (15-45 pounds)
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; frequent districtwide travel; occasional statewide travel and out-of-state travel
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress
