Position Overview
Central Vermont Habitat for Humanity is seeking two full-time Donation Pick-Up Drivers to support ReStore operations. This role is responsible for safely collecting donated furniture, appliances, and building materials and delivering them to the ReStore. The position includes lifting and moving items, providing excellent customer service, and supporting an efficient donation intake process. This is a great opportunity to support affordable housing while staying active and engaged in the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to the ReStore Manager with day-to-day operations
- Pick up donations using Habitat for Humanity vehicles
- Load and unload the truck multiple times daily with assistance from staff or volunteers
- Transport all donations to the store and ensure proper unloading and sorting
- Ensure unsaleable donations are disposed of appropriately
- Secure the truck at the end of each day and store equipment safely
- Adhere to Habitat criteria for accepting saleable items only
- Provide excellent customer service during all donor interactions
- Assist with training volunteers on safe work practices
- Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment inside and outside the store
- Conduct daily and weekly vehicle safety checks
- Support special events such as parades, “Stuff the Truck,” and other community initiatives
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
- Basic math skills required
- Ability to relate to people from diverse backgrounds
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Retail experience helpful but not required
- Knowledge of vintage items, collectibles, and antiques is beneficial but not required
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to work in a physically demanding environment (indoors/outdoors, all weather conditions)
- Ability to safely lift, move, and transport heavy items (up to 75 lbs) with assistance and proper equipment
- Comfortable climbing ladders (up to 6 feet), reaching, stooping, pushing, and carrying

- Tips may be accepted; however, employees and volunteers may not accept personal gifts or donations for resale
- Purchasing items directly from donors is prohibited
- Employment is contingent upon substance screening, criminal background check, and driving history review
