Job Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer with an active security clearance who will support prototype development through electrical design, integration, and system bring-up activities. In this role, you will create and maintain engineering drawings, select appropriate electrical components, and coordinate technicians in cable fabrication, harness routing, and bench-level testing to validate system performance. You will support prototype debugging, ensure adherence to documentation and quality procedures, and coordinate closely with technicians and cross-disciplinary engineering teams. Additionally, you will provide guidance during assembly efforts, communicate effectively across stakeholders, and manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop electrical systems, schematics, and PCB layouts using CAD tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, and SolidWorks.
- Conduct root cause analysis on electrical failures and troubleshoot issues using tools like oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, and signal processing techniques.
- Collaborate with mechanical engineers to integrate electrical components into mechanical assemblies utilizing Revit and MicroStation.
- Perform system testing, debugging, and validation of electrical circuits with surface mount technology (SMT), soldering techniques, and vision inspection systems.
- Support manufacturing processes by creating detailed schematics, ensuring compliance with NEC (National Electrical Code) standards, and overseeing surface mount technology assembly.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Active security clearance (secret or higher).
- Experience in designing electrical systems with a strong understanding of circuit theory, signal processing, and system design principles.
- Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, or SolidWorks for schematic creation and mechanical integration.
- Knowledge of PCB design principles including schematics creation and layout optimization for surface mount technology (SMT).
- Ability to perform root cause analysis on electrical failures using debugging tools like oscilloscopes and ohmmeters.
- Familiarity with manufacturing standards; experience supporting production processes is advantageous.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position mainly involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. There is occasional lifting up to 30 pounds, constant sitting with occasional use of computer terminal, constant use of sight abilities while reviewing documents, constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, and constant mental alertness. Minimal travel to remote company work locations may occur. This role necessitates the capability to also work in a lab environment with potential exposure to noise and chemicals.
Pay: $90,000.00 – $110,000.00 per year
