What To Expect (Job Responsibilities)

  • Perform complex administrative and technical support duties for the City Manager, Deputy City Manager, and City Council
  • Maintain calendars, coordinate activities, and arrange travel for executive staff
  • Manage correspondence, compose responses, and ensure timely distribution of information
  • Administer the budget for the City Manager's Office and City Council, processing invoices and maintaining financial records
  • Supervise and train subordinate staff, participating in their performance management and professional development

What Is Required (Qualifications)

  • Minimum of six years of increasingly responsible administrative and secretarial experience, including three years at the executive level
  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent; college coursework in public administration or communications is preferred
  • Knowledge of local government operations, policies, and procedures
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently

How To Stand Out (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Experience in public administration or related field
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite programs
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated ability to respond effectively to community member inquiries and concerns
  • Knowledge of budgeting and financial management principles
