Overview
The groundsman performs manual labor, operates basic equipment such as skid steer, telehandler and water truck to clean production areas. This entry-level role supports heavy equipment operators and plant mechanics to keep quarry operations running without interruption.
Responsibilities
- Maintain Plant Cleanliness: Shovel spilled rock, dirt, and debris away from conveyor belts, tail pulleys, and crushers.
- Operate Basic Machinery: Run skid steers, forklifts, and water trucks to manage dust and move materials.
- Perform Manual Labor: Use hand tools like shovels, rakes, brooms, and power tools for various ground-maintenance tasks.
- Ensure Safety Compliance: Monitor the grounds for hazards, maintain clear walkways, and strictly follow MSHA (Mine Safety and Health Administration) regulations.
- Manage Stockpiles: Assist in guiding haul trucks, monitoring material piles, and keeping driving lanes clear of obstructions.
Qualifications and Skills
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 20–80 pounds, climb stairs, and stand for long shifts.
- Adaptability: Capability to work outdoors in extreme weather conditions (heat, cold, dust, rain).
Pay: $14.00 – $20.00 per hour
