2. About the Opportunity:
The Health Information Specialist I role is an entry-level position focused on processing release of information requests related to medical records. The position ensures accurate, timely handling of patient data while safeguarding privacy and compliance with HIPAA regulations, supporting the organization''s mission to provide high-quality health data services.
3. Responsibilities:
• Process patient health information requests according to policies and procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and security of privileged information.
• Use company and facility software effectively.
• Adhere to code of conduct and organizational policies.
• Report work and volume challenges to management.
• Assist with additional duties as required.
• Apply medical privacy regulations consistently.
• Manage and safeguard patient health records.
• Prepare new patient charts by gathering necessary documents.
• Ensure accuracy and completeness of medical records.
• Create digital images for electronic medical records.
• Respond to internal and external patient record requests.
• Handle inbound and outbound calls.
• Support patient walk-ins and administrative tasks including faxing, mail handling, and data entry.
• Meet site-specific productivity expectations.
• Schedule pickups and perform other assigned duties.
4. Requirements:
• High School diploma or GED.
• Ability to commute between locations as needed.
• Willingness to work overtime during peak periods.
• Basic computer skills.
• Proficiency with phones, fax machines, printers, and office equipment.
• Professional English communication skills.
• Attention to detail for accurate medical record information.
• Strong data entry capabilities.
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing priorities.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus qualifications include:
• Healthcare experience.
• Experience in production or metric-based roles.
• In-person customer service experience.
• Ability to build relationships with on-site clients.
• Openness to suggesting process improvements.
5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:
• The estimated base pay range per hour for this role is: $15 to $15 USD.
