Job Overview
Scelzi Enterprises, Inc. is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Hot Shot Driver to join our Transportation team in Tacoma, Washington. The Hot Shot Driver is responsible for safely transporting company products, equipment, and materials using an F-350 dually truck with a gooseneck trailer, as well as other commercial vehicles as assigned. This position requires extensive travel throughout California and neighboring states while maintaining exceptional customer service, compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations, and Scelzi’s high standards for safety and professionalism.
The ideal candidate is an experienced Class A CDL driver with flatbed and step deck hauling experience, excellent time management skills, and a commitment to safe driving practices.
Responsibilities

- Operate company-owned pick up and gooseneck trailer to facilitate shipping and receiving operations which include delivery,
- Transport includes finished products (i.e. Water trucks, Dump bodies, Flatbeds, Service Bodies) and raw materials.
- Load, unload, inspect, and properly secure cargo using chains, straps, binders, and other approved securement methods.
- Tarp all required loads, including steel, wood, and aluminum materials, in accordance with company policy.
- Conduct required pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections and complete all required documentation.
- Perform routine operator maintenance and promptly report mechanical issues or safety concerns.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, trip reports, fuel records, mileage, inspection reports, and other required documentation in compliance with DOT/FMCSA regulations.
- Operate Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs) in accordance with FMCSA Hours of Service requirements.
- Maintain all required licenses, certifications, and DOT qualifications.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service during all deliveries and pickups
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned to support transportation and company operations.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
Work Environment
While performing the duties of this position, the employee regularly works outdoors in varying weather conditions and spends extended periods operating or riding in commercial vehicles. The role may involve exposure to heat, cold, rain, wind, dust, and other environmental conditions associated with transportation and delivery operations. Employees are expected to work safely in both outdoor and vehicle-based environments while following all applicable safety policies and procedures.
Physical Demands
The employee must be able to:
- Sit for extended periods while operating commercial vehicles.
- Frequently use hands and arms to operate vehicle controls and secure cargo.
- Climb on trailers and equipment to inspect, secure, and tarp loads.
- Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, balance, and walk on uneven surfaces.
- Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
- Maintain visual acuity sufficient for safe vehicle operation, including close, distance, peripheral, and color vision.
- Safely enter and exit commercial vehicles multiple times throughout the workday
Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Work schedules may include early mornings, extended hours, weekends, and overnight travel based on business needs and delivery schedules.
Travel
Frequent travel throughout Washington and surrounding states is required.
Required Experience
1. Class A Drivers’ License
2. Driving Record (Must provide Motor Vehicle Report)
3. Two years’ Experience driving a tractor-trailer with beaver trailer, knowledge of commercial driving regulations required to transport and deliver products
4. Two years’ Experience in transporting trucks with pickup and gooseneck trailer or semi truck and trailer.
5. Knowledge of loading and securing freight on a flatbed trailer. Tarping Required.
6. Compliance with FMCSA ELD Regulations
7. Driving and chaining up in the snow.
Preferred Experience
1. Driving in snowing conditions.
Additional Eligibility Qualifications
- Successfully pass any required DOT physical examinations and drug/alcohol testing.
- Maintain an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).
