Role Description This is a contract, on-site Human Resources Manager role based in Washington, DC. The Human Resources Manager will oversee day-to-day HR operations, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, and performance management for hotel and hospitality staff. The role will manage HR policies and procedures, ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, and maintain accurate HR records and documentation. The Human Resources Manager will partner with property leadership to address staffing needs, support workforce planning, and contribute to employee engagement and retention initiatives. The position will also coordinate training, coach managers on HR best practices, and support organizational change and transitions across assigned properties.

  • 4–5 month commitment required from a mature, trustworthy professional who understands confidentiality and handles sensitive information with discretion.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills, including excellent record keeping, attention to detail, union experience, and proficiency with Canva.
  • People-focused and adaptable, with strong listening skills, humility, a genuine passion for helping staff, and the ability to thrive in changing environments.

Qualifications

  • Strong experience in hospitality or hotel Human Resources management, including recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations.
  • Proven ability to interpret and apply employment laws and regulations, with a solid understanding of HR policies, compliance, and documentation.
  • Demonstrated skills in performance management, conflict resolution, coaching, and supporting leaders through workforce transitions.
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with diverse team members and leaders, with excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, operational environment with changing priorities and multiple property stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with HRIS and related HR tools; strong organizational and data management skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • PHR, SHRM-CP, or similar HR certification is preferred; prior experience in hotel or hospitality HR is strongly beneficial.
