Ernst Grain & Livestock is a seventh-generation family-owned agricultural business producing premium animal feeds, grain products, and wildlife feeds for customers throughout the Mid-Atlantic.

We’re looking for a mechanically minded individual who enjoys repairing equipment, welding, and building things. Whether your experience comes from agriculture, construction, manufacturing, equipment repair, or another skilled trade, we’ll assist in training on our equipment and production systems.

This is a hands-on position where no two days are the same. You’ll work alongside our maintenance team repairing equipment, fabricating improvements, installing new machinery, and helping maintain a modern grain handling, feed milling, and packaging facility.

Position Summary

The Maintenance & Fabrication Technician works as part of our maintenance team to keep our equipment and facilities operating safely and efficiently. This position performs preventative maintenance, mechanical repairs, welding, fabrication, and facility improvement projects while learning the specialized equipment used throughout our operation.

Prior feed mill or grain handling experience is beneficial, but not necessary. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical skills, welding experience, and the desire to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the maintenance and repair of grain handling, feed milling, packaging, and warehouse equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce equipment downtime
  • Perform MIG welding, stick welding, and basic steel fabrication
  • Fabricate brackets, guards, platforms, supports, and custom equipment modifications
  • Install and replace bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, belts, conveyors, augers, and other mechanical components
  • Assist with equipment installations and facility improvement projects
  • Help replace sensors, motors, switches, and other components on automated production equipment as directed by senior maintenance personnel
  • Repair forklifts and warehouse equipment as needed
  • Assist with repairs to trucks, trailers, and agricultural equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment

Required Qualifications

  • Experience with MIG & stick welding
  • Mechanical aptitude and experience repairing equipment
  • Ability to safely operate welders, torches, grinders, drills, and common shop tools
  • Ability to read a tape measure and perform basic fabrication
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Dependable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Pay: $920.00 – $1,400.00 per week
