Maintenance Technician Jobs in Lakewood at Halstead Holdings
Maintenance & Turn Technician
Cleveland West Side Full-Time $24–$30 / hour
Company: Halstead Residential
Location: Lakewood, North Olmsted, Old Brooklyn, and surrounding Cuyahoga County
Job Type: Full-Time
Pay: $24–$30 / hour, depending on experience
About the Role
Halstead Residential is hiring a full-time Maintenance & Turn Technician to help maintain and improve our growing apartment portfolio in the Cleveland area. Our portfolio includes approximately 150 units across 9 properties on Cleveland’s West Side, and we’re growing quickly.
We’re a fast-growing, owner-operated multifamily company building a real team — you’d be one of our first key maintenance hires, not a number in a corporate system.
We’re looking for someone dependable, practical, and hands-on who can help us keep apartments clean, functional, safe, and ready to lease. The right person knows how to walk into a vacant or occupied unit, identify what needs to be done, knock out the work they can handle, and communicate clearly on anything that needs to be outsourced.
Responsibilities
You’ll handle a mix of apartment turns, work orders, and general property maintenance, including:
- Completing punch-list items in vacant apartments
- Basic plumbing repairs: toilets, faucets, drains, supply lines, disposals
- Basic electrical repairs: outlets, switches, light fixtures, smoke/CO detectors
- Drywall patching, caulking, minor trim, doors, locks, blinds, hardware
- Appliance troubleshooting and basic repairs
- Common area maintenance
- Preventive inspections and property walks
- Taking photos before and after work
- Updating work orders clearly and promptly
- Helping identify larger issues before they become expensive problems
- Coordinating with vendors when work needs to be outsourced
This role is not expected to handle licensed electrical, major HVAC, roofing, sewer work, or large renovation projects. We have vendors for specialized work.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate has:
- Prior apartment maintenance, handyman, construction, or turn experience
- Valid driver’s license and reliable personal vehicle (you’ll travel between properties)
- Own hand tools, cordless drill/impact driver, and basic plumbing and electrical hand tools (we provide ladders, specialty tools, consumables, and all materials)
- Strong problem-solving ability
- Ability to work independently
- Good communication with tenants and the internal team
- Pride in doing clean, rental-grade work
- Comfort working in occupied and vacant apartments
- Ability to prioritize urgent issues
- Dependability — showing up matters
Apartment maintenance experience is strongly preferred, but we’re also open to a strong handyman, contractor helper, or construction worker who wants steady full-time work and room to grow.
What Matters Most
We care more about reliability, judgment, and execution than a perfect résumé.
You should be the type of person who can walk a unit and say:
— “This needs to be fixed before leasing.”
— “This is good enough.”
— “This needs a plumber.”
— “I can knock this out today.”
— “Here’s what materials I need.”
We value reliability, clear communication, and sound judgment above all.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay range is $24–$30/hour, depending on experience, tools, transportation, and ability to work independently.
Benefits package discussed at interview for qualified candidates.
There’s room to grow as the portfolio grows. A strong technician can eventually grow into a Lead Maintenance Technician or Maintenance Supervisor role.
Schedule & On-Call
Full-time position, Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm, with on-call availability for after-hours emergencies.
