Responsibilities
- Skillfully operate meat processing machines, including slicers, grinders, and trimming tools to prepare cuts according to specifications
- Cut, trim, and portion meats with precision using proper knife skills and slicing techniques
- Ensure all meat products are visually inspected for quality control, freshness, and adherence to safety standards
- Package meat products securely while maintaining proper weight and presentation standards
- Follow food safety sanitizing procedures diligently to uphold cleanliness and prevent cross-contamination
- Manage perishable goods by monitoring expiration dates and storing products appropriately in refrigerated environments
- Provide excellent customer service by answering questions about meat cuts, preparation methods, and food safety practices
Experience
- Previous retail store experience in food production or meat processing is highly preferred
- Hands-on experience with meat cutting, butchery, or culinary preparation in a restaurant or food industry setting
- Familiarity with food handling regulations, sanitizing procedures, and food safety management systems
- Basic math skills for accurate weighing, portioning, and inventory management
- Experience operating food industry equipment such as meat slicing machines and fish handling tools is a plus
- Strong knife skills with an understanding of trimming (cutting method) and slicing techniques for various meats
- Customer service experience in a retail or restaurant environment demonstrating effective communication skills
