  • Location: Columbus, MS
  • Job Type: Full-Time
  • Schedule: Daytime hours, Monday–Friday (no nights, no weekends, no call)
  • Pay: Competitive — commensurate with experience

About the Opportunity

MedWorks is a 26-year-old leader in nuclear cardiology services across Alabama, and we are expanding our operation into Columbus, MS with King and Associates Cardiology, under the clinical leadership of Dr. John King. We are looking for an experienced Nuclear Cardiology Technologist to perform high-quality SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI) studies in a dedicated cardiac imaging environment.

A dedicated ACLS-certified cardiovascular stress technologist or Registered Nurse will be on-site to handle pharmacologic and treadmill stress administration, allowing you to focus on what you do best — acquiring excellent images and supporting the cardiologist.

Why You’ll Want This Role

  • Established, well-run nuclear cardiology program with 26+ years of operating history
  • Cardiac-focused workflow — SPECT MPI, and related cardiac studies (no general nuclear medicine rotation)
  • Daytime schedule — no call, no weekends, no holidays
  • Dedicated ACLS-certified Cardiovascular stress tech on-site for every study
  • Direct collaboration with a board-certified interventional cardiologist
  • Modern imaging suite and well-maintained equipment
  • Potential to cross-train and grow into our cardiac PET/CT programs
  • Competitive compensation and full benefits package

What You’ll Do

  • Perform rest and stress SPECT myocardial perfusion imaging using Tc-99m sestamibi (Cardiolite) or comparable agents
  • Calculate, draw, and administer radiopharmaceutical doses per protocol
  • Prepare and position patients, obtain clinical history, and place IVs
  • Partner with the on-site cardiovascular stress technologist during treadmill and pharmacologic stress studies
  • Operate and maintain the SPECT gamma camera; perform daily and weekly QC
  • Process and reconstruct images for physician interpretation
  • Maintain strict state, and ALARA radiation safety compliance, including dose calibration, surveys, sealed source inventories, and dose logs
  • Document studies and dose information accurately in the imaging system and EMR
  • Coordinate with the cardiologist, scheduling, and front-office team to keep the day running smoothly

Required Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited Nuclear Medicine Technology or Radiologic Technology program
  • NMTCB and/or ARRT(N) certification (current and in good standing)
  • Mississippi state licensure as required for nuclear medicine technology
  • Current BLS certification
  • Working knowledge of state radiation safety requirements
  • Proficiency with IV starts

Preferred Qualifications

  • CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist) credential
  • ACLS certification (preferred but not required — a dedicated ACLS stress tech is provided)
  • Experience with high-volume cardiology practice workflow
  • Familiarity with cardiac PET imaging (we are launching a Rb-82 cardiac PET/CT program — cross-training opportunity)
  • Experience supporting ICANL or ACR accreditation
  • Comfortable with EMR documentation and modern imaging IT workflows
  • Minimum 2 years of clinical nuclear cardiology / SPECT MPI experience

What We’re Looking For

  • A motivated, detail-oriented technologist who takes pride in image quality and patient care
  • Strong communicator who works well with physicians, staff, and patients
  • Commitment to safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Interest in growing with our program as we expand into cardiac PET/CT

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary commensurate with experience and credentials
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Retirement plan with employer contribution
  • CEU / continuing education support and credentialing reimbursement
  • Opportunity for growth as our programs expand
