Diocese of Joliet Catholic Schools 26-27 Before and After School Care Program Assistant – Part-time Benefit Ineligible Cathedral of St. Raymond School Position available:
August 2026 Position Purpose The Before and After Care Assistant supports the mission of the school by providing a safe, nurturing, and well-supervised environment for students participating in the school’s extended care program. Working under the direction of the principal, the assistant helps foster positive social interactions, promotes respectful behavior, and engages students in age-appropriate activities while ensuring their well-being before and after the regular school day.
The position contributes to a welcoming and faith-filled atmosphere that reflects the values and teachings of the Catholic school community. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Ensuring safety of all children in the program Signing children upon arrival and out when they leave Creating an enriching, fun, and safe environment Planning activities for children of all ages Interacting positively with children and their families Working independently as well as with a team Perform other related tasks as assigned by the principal or pastor Education and Experience A high school diploma or GED equivalent required.
Candidates must be at least 16 years old. Protecting God’s Children Certificate and Background Check required. A background in education and/or college course(s) in recreation education is a plus but not required. Childcare work experience with children of all ages preferred but not required. Other training may be required after employment begins. Work Schedule This person must be available to work:
After school Wednesday Thursday: 3:00 – 6:00 Friday: 2:15-3:00 Meets on regular school days when school is in session. Hourly Range $15.00-$18.00 Final hourly rate will be determined by relevant years of experience in a similar job combined with education and professional licensure. Physical abilities that are commonly associated with the performance of this job While performing the duties of this job, the employee may frequently be required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see, feel with hands, reach with arms, walk up or down multiple flights of stairs, and be physically able to perform duties as assigned, including the ability to lift up to 20-30 pounds if needed.
Works in standard office and school building environments but also has ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
