Nursing Assistant Required Qualifications:

Listed with DHSR Nurse Aide Registry as Nursing Assistant I

Current CPR (or attained within 3 months of employment)
Nursing Assistant Preferred Qualifications:
-
Previous hospital NA experience

Listed with North Carolina Board of Nursing as Nursing Assistant II
Patient Care Technician Required Qualifications:
-
Current EMT or at least 2 years previous experience as an EMT or Current Nursing Assistant I listed with the NC
DHSR Nurse Aide Registry -
Phlebotomy certification or complete phlebotomy training in NRH Laboratory within 3 months of employment.

Current CPR certification or attained within 3 months of employment
Patient Care Technician Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in Patient Care Areas
Nursing Assistant:
Performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services in caring for personal needs and comfort of patients. Works under the direction of the registered nurse. Frequent moving, lifting and positioning of patients as well as pushing and pulling of wheelchairs and stretchers along with additional equipment. Assigned patients may be from neonate through geriatrics. Involves clerical duties in relation to admission, transfer, and daily care of patients on assigned unit.
Patient Care Technician:
Working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse, performs routine and delegated patient care duties according to the department’s standards of practice and policies, including phlebotomy, specimen collection, obtaining EKG’s, selecting and preparing equipment for procedures, transporting patients, order entry, clerical duties, and housekeeping duties such as cleaning and stocking areas. Frequent moving, lifting and positioning of patients as well as pushing and pulling of wheelchairs and stretchers along with additional equipment. May be assigned by the director in a dual role to
take on responsibilities of unit clerk or monitor technician. If applicable, the employee will be required to adhere to the unit clerk job description and/or monitor technician job description upon completion of training and will be required to complete annual competency training.
