About The Role

The Payroll Specialist at Cunningham Children's Home plays a critical role in ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of payroll processing for approximately 400 employees. This position involves managing daily payroll operations, including billing, reconciliations, and monthly journal entries related to payroll and accounting functions. The role requires a detail-oriented professional who can work independently while providing support to various departments as needed. The Payroll Specialist will utilize payroll software such as UKG Pro/Workforce Management to streamline processes and ensure compliance with relevant regulations. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to a meaningful mission by supporting the organization’s internal functions and maintaining accurate financial records.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess an Associate’s degree in Accounting or a related field; however, extensive experience in payroll can substitute for formal education. A minimum of three years of payroll experience is required, with prior experience using UKG Pro/Workforce Management preferred. Candidates with five years of payroll experience, even without formal education, are encouraged to apply. Proficiency in accounting, spreadsheet, and word processing software is essential. A strong understanding of payroll practices, bookkeeping, and compliance regulations is necessary. Excellent communication skills, including email etiquette, are vital for effective collaboration. A valid Illinois driver’s license is preferred but not mandatory. The ability to perform routine responsibilities independently while maintaining a courteous and helpful attitude in person, over the phone, and via email is essential for success in this role.
