Plastics Injection Molding Technician Jobs in Ponca City at Century Industries

About Century Industries

Century Industries is an Oklahoma-based steel processing, tool and die, and plastics manufacturing company in the middle of rapid expansion. We specialize in precision production, tooling, and prototyping for a variety of industries — and we’re building a team to match our ambitions.

We’re growing our Plastics Department and looking for a skilled Injection Molding Technician who takes pride in process discipline, problem-solving, and delivering repeatable, high-quality results at scale.

What You’ll Do

As the Plastics Injection Molding Technician, you will set up, optimize, and maintain injection molding processes to produce high-quality plastic components at scale. This role combines hands-on technical execution with process control discipline — focused on cycle time reduction, defect elimination, and repeatable production performance.

Machine Setup & Processing:

  • Perform mold setups, startups, and shutdowns across a range of injection molding machines
  • Establish and document process parameters including temps, pressures, speeds, cooling, and pack/hold profiles
  • Apply scientific/decoupled molding techniques to ensure consistency and repeatability
  • Validate new jobs and support mold trials, first articles, and production launches

Process Optimization:

  • Reduce cycle times while maintaining part integrity and dimensional stability
  • Identify and eliminate defects including splay, burn marks, short shots, warpage, sink, and flash
  • Optimize gating, venting, and cooling strategies in collaboration with engineering
  • Monitor and adjust processes using data-driven methods including SPC, DOE, and shot monitoring systems

Troubleshooting & Continuous Improvement:

  • Diagnose process, tooling, and material issues in real time
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives targeting scrap reduction and OEE improvement

Tooling & Equipment:

  • Assist with mold maintenance, cleaning, and minor repairs
  • Ensure proper installation of EOAT (end-of-arm tooling), hot runners, and auxiliary equipment
  • Coordinate with maintenance for machine reliability and uptime

Quality & Documentation:

  • Maintain process sheets, setup documentation, and parameter logs
  • Work closely with Quality to meet customer specifications and tolerances
  • Support audits and ensure compliance with internal SOPs and customer requirements

Safety & Housekeeping:

  • Follow all safety protocols for high-tonnage presses and auxiliary equipment
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work area

What We’re Looking For

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of hands-on injection molding experience
  • Strong understanding of molding defects and corrective actions
  • Experience with machine setup, parameter development, and process troubleshooting
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with scientific/decoupled molding (RJG or equivalent training a plus)
  • Familiarity with materials such as HDPE, ABS, ASA, PP, and engineered resins
  • Exposure to automation including robots and EOAT in high-volume production environments
  • Knowledge of SPC, process monitoring systems, or Moldflow analysis

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Technical problem-solving under production pressure
  • Process discipline and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to apply scientific molding principles to real-world production challenges
  • Data-driven decision-making using SPC, DOE, and process monitoring tools
  • Strong communication and collaboration across production, engineering, and quality teams
  • Ownership mindset with a focus on throughput, efficiency, and continuous improvement

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand for extended periods during production shifts
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 40 pounds
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling of materials and molded parts
  • Exposure to industrial production environments including machinery, noise, and material dust
  • Required use of PPE: safety glasses, gloves, and steel-toed boots
