Job Overview
CMI Orchards, a well-established leader in the fruit industry, is seeking a Quality Control Specialist to join our team. This role supports our sales, marketing, growers, and packing operations by ensuring fruit quality, packaging accuracy, and customer specification compliance in a fast‑paced environment.
The ideal candidate works well in a team setting, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and is comfortable testing, documenting, troubleshooting, and reporting quality findings. This is an in‑training position, well‑suited for individuals looking to build a career in quality control within the agricultural and food production industry.
Key Responsibilities
Production & Warehouse Support
· Monitor and support fruit grade, color, and condition during packing to maximize grower packout
· Verify packaging requirements and customer grading specifications
· Perform dock Quality Control checks to ensure customer specifications are met
· Document quality findings with photos and share results with warehouse and sales teams
Sales & Marketing Support
· Report daily packout information for each lot being packed
· Perform Quality Control evaluations on purchased and imported fruit
· Provide quality and packaging details for outgoing shipments
· Communicate directly with sales and marketing regarding packaging issues
· Collect fruit samples and packaging materials as needed
· Support sales with customer tours and third‑party Quality Control activities
Qualifications
· Ability to manage time effectively and prioritize tasks
· Willingness to work scheduled days, nights, and weekends
· Ability to work in varying environments
· Understanding of food safety principles
· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
· Prior experience is helpful but not required (training provided)
· College degree or some college preferred but not required
Additional Information
· Travel: Potential for domestic and international travel
Training: Participation in all Quality Control meetings and training sessions is required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
