Position Overview
As our Studio Design Consultant, you'll work one-on-one with homeowners and design professionals to help bring their vision to life through thoughtful material selections. You'll provide design guidance, develop cohesive finish palettes, prepare quotes, and help clients confidently navigate the selection process.
We're looking for someone with a strong eye for design who is excited to grow alongside a boutique studio dedicated to exceptional service and beautiful spaces.
What You'll Do
- Welcome homeowners, designers, builders, and architects into the studio and create an exceptional first impression.
- Consult with clients on tile, stone, grout, trim, and finish selections for custom homes and renovations.
- Assist in developing cohesive material palettes that align with each client's vision, style, and budget.
- Prepare project estimates, proposals, and material quotes.
- Coordinate orders with vendors and assist in tracking project timelines.
- Maintain accurate pricing spreadsheets and product information as vendor pricing and collections change.
- Organize, label, and inventory studio samples, ensuring displays remain current, complete, and beautifully presented.
- Assist with inventory management, sample ordering, and receiving new product collections.
- Keep the studio clean, organized, and thoughtfully merchandised to reflect the Surface & Stone brand.
- Answer phones, respond to customer inquiries, schedule appointments, and provide administrative support as needed.
- Continuously learn about new products, installation methods, and industry trends to better serve our clients.
- Assist with light social media content, including behind-the-scenes moments, new product arrivals, and project highlights.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone who has:
- Professional experience in interior design, kitchen & bath design, architectural design, or a closely related field is strongly preferred.
- A strong understanding of color, scale, texture, and material selection.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Outstanding organization and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while managing multiple projects.
A portfolio showcasing previous design work is strongly preferred. We would love to see examples of projects, mood boards, finish selections, or other work that reflects your design aesthetic and experience.
Physical Requirements
This position requires regular movement throughout the studio and storage areas. The ideal candidate must be able to:
- Frequently lift and carry product samples and boxes weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Move and organize large tile sample boards and display materials.
- Bend, kneel, reach, and stand for extended periods throughout the day.
- Load, unload, and arrange incoming sample shipments and inventory.
- Safely move heavier materials with assistance or appropriate equipment when needed.
Schedule & Pay: Part-Time or Full-Time | $22-$24 per hour depending on experience
We're open to both part-time and full-time candidates and are committed to finding the right person. Hours and responsibilities may evolve as the business continues to grow.
Why Join Surface & Stone?
