Superintendent – Structured Cabling & Low Voltage Systems


Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Superintendent to lead field operations for structured cabling and low-voltage infrastructure projects. This role is responsible for overseeing multiple projects, managing field personnel, ensuring quality and safety compliance, coordinating with project teams, and driving successful project execution from pre-construction through closeout.

The ideal candidate has experience in structured cabling, network infrastructure, data centers, fiber optics, telecommunications, security systems, audiovisual systems, or electrical construction. While structured cabling experience is preferred, we welcome candidates with proven leadership experience from adjacent industries who can quickly adapt to our processes and technical standards.


What You’ll Do


Lead Field Operations

  • Oversee multiple structured cabling and low-voltage projects simultaneously.
  • Direct field supervisors, lead technicians, subcontractors, and installers.
  • Ensure projects are executed safely, efficiently, and according to project schedules.
  • Conduct regular site visits to evaluate progress, quality, productivity, and customer satisfaction.
  • Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material resources across projects.
  • Support field teams with problem-solving, technical guidance, and operational leadership.

Manage Project Execution

  • Partner closely with Project Managers, customers, general contractors, vendors, and other trades.
  • Review project drawings, specifications, submittals, and installation requirements.
  • Ensure field teams understand project scope, milestones, and deliverables.
  • Identify schedule risks, field conflicts, and resource constraints before they impact project performance.
  • Monitor material procurement and long-lead items to support project schedules.
  • Assist with change order identification, documentation, and execution.

Drive Quality & Safety

  • Ensure installations meet company standards, industry best practices, manufacturer requirements, and project specifications.
  • Conduct QA/QC inspections throughout project execution.
  • Lead a culture of safety through regular jobsite audits, safety meetings, and field coaching.
  • Verify completion of daily reports, safety documentation, Job Safety Analyses (JSAs), and project reporting requirements.
  • Reduce rework through proactive quality management and attention to detail.

Workforce Development & Leadership

  • Conduct weekly manpower planning and labor forecasting.
  • Recruit, interview, hire, coach, and develop field personnel.
  • Maintain skill assessments and development plans for supervisors and technicians.
  • Identify high-potential employees and create advancement opportunities.
  • Ensure required certifications, manufacturer training, and safety credentials remain current.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

Financial & Operational Performance

  • Monitor labor productivity and project performance.
  • Review labor reports, manpower forecasts, and project budgets.
  • Help identify and mitigate labor overruns and productivity challenges.
  • Collaborate with project teams to improve forecasting accuracy and operational efficiency.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives that increase profitability and scalability.

Qualifications


Required

  • 5+ years of leadership experience managing field personnel and construction projects.
  • Proven experience supervising crews, subcontractors, and project schedules.
  • Strong understanding of construction processes, safety programs, quality control, and workforce management.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Preferred

  • Experience managing structured cabling, fiber optic, low-voltage, AV, security, or electrical projects.
  • Knowledge of TIA/EIA standards, BICSI practices, and structured cabling installation methodologies.
  • Experience with data center, healthcare, education, commercial, or industrial construction environments.
  • BICSI, OSHA, manufacturer certifications, or equivalent industry credentials.
