APS is a global leader in aircraft propeller system maintenance services and is an authorized service center for major propeller OEM’s.

Position Objective

To dismantle, repair, and assemble aircraft propeller assemblies and parts including sub-assemblies, hub and blade, and fiberglass components.

Production Lead

Essential Functions

  • Receive, uncrate, and disassemble propeller, propeller controls, hubs, actuators, and related sub-assemblies.
  • Review work orders, review collected parts from the stock area, and information for repair accompanying the equipment.
  • Clean blades, parts, and sub-assemblies as necessary for inspection and performance of repairs.
  • Inspect blades, sub-assemblies, and parts for hidden damage, corrosion, and anomalies.
  • Compile information regarding parts and labor to complete requested repairs as well as any further repairs noted during inspection.
  • Determine if sublet work or machining is required and fill out appropriate forms for routing.
  • Grind and remove paint as necessary to complete inspection.
  • Cut, mix and prepare composite material as needed. Apply composite to blades.
  • Remove, install, and repair nickel sheaths.
  • Remove, inspect and replace heating elements from propeller blades.
  • Sand, grind and prepare blade surfaces as necessary to achieve the appropriate surface for paint application.
  • Perform curing, bonding, and finishing operation to technical specifications.
  • Perform inspections during disassembly and assembly operations and makes condition observations and reports of unusual damage or wear.
  • Report any damaged or defective departmental parts to the stock room for documentation.
  • Record and report any anomalies.
  • Correct defects or bring defects to the attention of others for correction.
  • Use and maintain power and hand tools for the accomplishment of assigned tasks.
  • Reassemble propeller assemblies, hubs, domes, and propeller components.
  • Assist other mechanics in the disassembly, assembly, and inspection of propellers, controls, parts, and components as needed.
  • Utilize safety practices and procedures following established rules and regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Work to achieve and support quality improvement in all products and services.
  • Accomplish organizational mission by completing related duties as needed.

Qualifications

Education: High School Diploma preferred

Experience: 1+ years in aircraft propeller assembly and repair

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of aircraft propellers, propeller controls, and related sub-assemblies
  • Ability to recognize a variety of propeller parts and components including but not limited to blades, hubs, phalanges, brush blocks, actuators, and bulkheads in order to perform visual inspections and diagnose issues
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow the technical specifications of the OEM manuals and FAA regulations
  • Knowledge of operational and maintenance records, both manual and automated, and of the terminology and format to report work performed
  • Ability to interpret technical orders, blueprints, electrical wiring diagrams, fluid flow charts, and work guides as needed
  • Ability to use and safely operate machines associated with the repair and assembly of aircraft propellers such as the Pram machine, sanders, spray paint guns, grinders, and bonding machinery
  • Ability to use various precision measuring instruments associated with aircraft repair
  • Ability to effectively communicate with other production personnel

Working and Physical Conditions

Work may require moderate to strenuous effort. Must be able to bend, stoop crawl, and stand for prolonged periods on concrete or metal surfaces.
