Position Summary
The Vice President of Business Development (VP of Business Development) is a senior executive responsible for driving business growth by identifying new market opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, expanding customer relationships, and increasing revenue. This leader works closely with executive management to execute long-term growth strategies, establish commercial alliances, and strengthen the organization's competitive position.
The VP of Business Development collaborates across Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, Operations, and Strategy to accelerate sustainable business expansion.
Key Responsibilities
Business Growth Strategy
Develop and execute the company's business development strategy.
Identify new markets, industries, and revenue opportunities.
Evaluate competitive trends and emerging business opportunities.
Support long-term corporate growth initiatives.
Strategic Partnerships
Build and maintain strategic partnerships, alliances, and joint ventures.
Identify and negotiate high-value commercial agreements.
Develop relationships with enterprise customers, investors, and industry stakeholders.
Expand the company's partner ecosystem.
Revenue Development
Drive new business acquisition and revenue growth.
Develop strategic account expansion initiatives.
Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to improve lead generation and conversion.
Monitor pipeline performance and revenue forecasts.
Market Expansion
Lead domestic and international market expansion initiatives.
Conduct market research and competitive analysis.
Evaluate new products, services, and business models.
Support mergers, acquisitions, and strategic investments when applicable.
Executive Leadership
Lead Business Development Directors, Regional Business Development Managers, and Strategic Partnership teams.
Establish performance metrics and growth objectives.
Present business development strategies and results to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
Mentor future commercial leaders and build high-performing teams.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Finance, Economics, or a related field
MBA preferred
10–15+ years of progressive experience in business development, enterprise sales, corporate strategy, or commercial leadership
Proven record of driving revenue growth and strategic partnerships
Strong negotiation, financial analysis, and relationship management skills
Excellent executive communication and leadership abilities
