Vice President of Integrations and Operational Excellence – Hybrid Jobs in Nashville, USA at Surgery Partners

This is a hybrid position based at our beautiful corporate office located in Brentwood, TN, with on-site work required Monday through Wednesday.

Operating as the connective tissue between strategy and execution across both established operations and newly acquired businesses, the VP partners closely with senior and field leadership to set operational standards, drive change management through transformation and integration, and build a culture of accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement.

The Director serves as a strategic partner to operators, providing the tools, frameworks, insights, and leadership necessary to improve productivity, quality, patient experience, and financial results. Through the application of continuous improvement methodologies and data-driven decision-making, this leader helps elevate operational maturity and build a culture of accountability and continuous improvement throughout the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Build & Lead Operational Excellence Function

  • Develop and execute an enterprise-wide operational excellence strategy aligned with corporate objectives.
  • Identify and capture opportunities to improve productivity, quality, patient experience, and financial results.
  • Prioritize and sequence operational initiatives based on strategic and financial objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional initiatives that materially impact EBITDA, cash flow, and clinical efficiency.
  • Build and deploy Lean, Six Sigma, root-cause, and structured problem-solving methodologies across field and corporate functions.
  • Standardize processes, workflows, operating rhythms, and best practices across business units.

Lead Mergers, Acquisitions & Integration Function

  • Lead integration planning and execution for acquisitions, mergers and divestitures.
  • Develop comprehensive integration roadmaps covering people, processes, technology, culture, and governance.
  • Coordinate cross-functional integration teams to ensure achievement of synergy targets and business objectives.
  • Identify and mitigate operational, cultural, and execution risks during integration activities.
  • Monitor integration progress, resolve obstacles, and provide executive-level reporting.
  • Ensure business continuity throughout integration and transformation efforts.

Build Teams & Lead Change

  • Build, mentor, and lead high-performing operational excellence and integration teams.
  • In partnership with operational and functional teams, assess organizational capabilities and build the structures needed to support future growth and scalability.
  • Drive change management strategies that ensure organizational adoption and sustainable results.
  • Influence leaders at all levels to align on and execute key initiatives, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

Measure & Manage Performance

  • Establish KPIs, operational scorecards, and performance thresholds in partnership with the data analytics team.
  • Leverage analytics to identify trends, measure outcomes, and inform decision-making.
  • Support operating reviews that ensure accountability and follow-through, translating results into executive Board-ready reporting.
  • Codify and scale replicable playbooks and best practices across operations and integration.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in operations, business transformation, operational excellence, consulting, integration management, or related disciplines.
  • Demonstrated success leading large-scale operational excellence and integration initiatives.
  • Strong expertise in process improvement methodologies, including Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent frameworks.
  • Experience managing cross-functional teams and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to drive action and alignment through influence rather than direct authority.
  • Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong executive communication and presentation skills.

Preferred

  • Master’s degree (MBA or related advanced degree).
  • Lean Six Sigma Black Belt or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Experience leading integrations in a private equity-backed, healthcare, multi-site services environment.
  • Experience managing enterprise PMO.
