Midwest Tool & Cutlery is hiring a dependable and detail-oriented Waterjet Operator for our Caledonia, Ohio manufacturing facility.
This position is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining waterjet cutting equipment to produce accurate, high-quality parts according to blueprints, engineering drawings, and job specifications.
Candidates with waterjet experience are preferred. We will also consider applicants with CNC, machining, fabrication, or similar manufacturing experience.
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate waterjet cutting equipment.
- Load, position, and secure materials on the machine bed.
- Verify job instructions, material requirements, and cut files before production.
- Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, dimensions, and tolerances.
- Adjust machine settings and cutting parameters as needed.
- Use CAD files and waterjet control software to create or modify cutting paths.
- Monitor the cutting process for quality and accuracy.
- Inspect finished parts using calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, and other measuring tools.
- Make adjustments to maintain part quality and production efficiency.
- Perform routine maintenance and basic troubleshooting.
- Clean the waterjet catch tank and replace deck blocks as needed.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
- Operate a forklift and other shop equipment as assigned.
- Follow all company safety procedures and wear required PPE.
- Assist with manual mills, drill presses, tapping machines, press brakes, or other production equipment when needed.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous waterjet, CNC, machining, fabrication, or manufacturing experience preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Experience using precision measuring tools.
- Working knowledge of CAD or machine-programming software preferred.
- Basic shop math skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Attention to detail and commitment to producing quality work.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and move up to 70 pounds.
- Ability to bend, stoop, squat, kneel, reach, balance, and rotate the torso.
- Ability to safely handle raw materials and finished parts.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment while wearing required PPE.
