Workforce Readiness Director
Build the bridge between education and the real world.
A Texas-based charter school network is looking for a Workforce Readiness Director to lead one of the most important (and underbuilt) parts of education today: helping students transition into meaningful careers.
This is a relationship-building, partnership-driven, and entrepreneurial opportunity to connect a growing charter school network across Texas with employers who need strong, reliable talent.
You’ll sit at the intersection of education, business, and workforce development—building partnerships, creating pipelines, and opening doors for students who are ready to work.
What You’ll Own
- Build and manage employer partnerships across Texas for a charter school network and their graduates
- Identify and develop relationships with businesses that can provide internships, training opportunities, and job pathways for students.
- Act as the external face of workforce development
- You’ll represent the organization in the market—meeting with business leaders, attending events, and building a network that compounds over time.
- Support and expand workforce readiness initiatives tied to grant objectives
- Help implement programs aligned with grant objectives, ensuring initiatives are executed effectively and meet defined goals.
- Collaborate across schools and internal teams
- Work closely with campus leaders, educators, and internal stakeholders to connect students with workforce opportunities and ensure alignment between programs and employer needs.
- Create real pathways for students
- Facilitate internships, apprenticeships, and career exposure opportunities for both high school students and adult learners.
- Track, manage, and report on outcomes
- Collect and maintain data on partnerships, student participation, and placement outcomes to support program performance and reporting requirements.

Who You Are

You’re someone who:
- Naturally builds relationships and opens doors
- Is comfortable in a sales, partnerships, or business development environment
- Thinks like an owner and enjoys building something from the ground up
- Cares deeply about helping people access better opportunities
- Can move between boardroom conversations and student impact
Backgrounds That Tend to Work Well
- Business development / sales (especially relationship-driven roles)
- Workforce development or economic development
- Staffing / recruiting (especially high-volume or early-career)
- Nonprofit partnerships or community engagement
- Education leadership with strong external-facing experience
What Success Looks Like
- 2–3 strong employer partnerships built in year one that turn into real hiring pipelines
- Clear internship and job placement pathways for students
- A growing network of employers across key Texas markets
- A model that can scale across campuses
