The Economic & Community Development Department is seeking two Administrative Support Specialists who will play a key role in supporting customers, staff, and operations across the department. Whether assisting residents at the Permit Center or helping support development-related activities, you’ll contribute to meaningful work that impacts the community every day.

Position Overview & Key Responsibilities
As an Administrative Support Specialist, you’ll provide administrative, customer service, and operational support that helps keep the department running efficiently. Depending on assignment, you’ll support Permit Center operations, Building Division activities, records management, customer inquiries, project coordination, and other essential departmental functions.
Current & Upcoming Projects
- Support continued growth and development activity throughout the City of Hillsboro.
- Assist with department initiatives that improve customer service and operational efficiency.
- Support records management and document retention projects.
- Contribute to process improvements that enhance services provided to residents, businesses, and development partners.
Spanish-English bilingual skills are strongly preferred to support our diverse community and enhance customer service.

Acceptable Experience and Training
- High school diploma or GED
- Three (3) years of office support, administrative support, customer service, or related experience
OR
- An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
LICENSE(S) / CERTIFICATIONS:
- Valid, current Driver’s License and safe driving record
Additional Information
Work Environment & Schedule
- Onsite position located at the Civic Center
- Monday – Friday schedule
- Regular interaction with customers, staff, and community members
- Frequent computer and telephone use
- Primarily office-based work environment
- May require occasional lifting and movement of files, records, or office materials

Bilingual Incentive Pay Available
Employees who can demonstrate the ability to speak Spanish, ASL, or any other language spoken by over 10% of the City residents as documented by the most recent U.S. Census, will receive a monthly 3% premium pay. The incentive is only paid on hours in paid status. Proficiency will be determined by a City-administered test.
