Position Overview

ACT is hiring a full-time Fleet Facilities Technician I to perform cleaning, waxing, minor repairs, and unskilled manual work of routine difficulty. Work is performed under immediate supervision of a lead worker, foreman, or management personnel. Work involves strenuous physical exertion, frequent lifting and moving of heavy objects, and exposure to undesirable environmental conditions and potential safety hazards. Essential Functions include but are not limited to:

  • Performs routine building maintenance; sweeps and mops floors, cleans, dusts, vacuums floors and carpets, strips, waxes and buffs floors, washes walls, and windows, and moves materials and furniture by hand or using dolly/cart.
  • Properly disposes of trash, removes debris from work sites, cleans restrooms, and keeps facility maintenance areas orderly.
  • Performs snow and/or severe weather maintenance operations.
  • Load and/or unload parts, supplies and light equipment using forklift.
  • Operates various vehicles and lift equipment.
  • Conducts minor building repairs on all ACT/MCT buildings and property.
  • Reads written instructions and warnings concerning use of supplies; reads written instructions from supervisor and follows verbal instructions.
  • Paints and plasters walls and other structural related components.
  • Clean vehicles and/or equipment.
  • Be aware of the potential safety and security factors throughout the transit facility and to follow all applicable policies and procedures of the Agency. Responsible to report any known or potential safety and/or security factor immediately to an appropriate supervisor, including any employee not following the policies and/or safety procedures.
  • Attends work regularly.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Prefer six months’ experience performing physical labor and routine maintenance work; or any equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Some knowledge and skill in the proper and safe use of power and hand tools used in maintenance work.
  • Ability to exert substantial physical effort for extended periods in performing manual labor and work indoors and outdoors in extreme temperature conditions.
  • Ability to read.
  • Ability to follow simple oral instructions.
  • Ability to exercise care and avoid accidents.
  • Ability to complete work properly as assigned and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to obtain a forklift certification.
  • Clean and neat appearance.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Normal working conditions for this position involve exposure to elements, such as high and low temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, odors, and loud noises. Physical requirements of the position include full range of motion in all extremities. Posses the ability to lift, push/pull and maneuver objects weighing up to 70 pounds (e.g. cleaning equipment and supplies). Requires the ability to recognize and identify similarities or differences between characteristics of shapes to clearly distinguish objects and sounds to communicate with others. Must be able to pass and obtain pre-employment physical and drug screen. Capacity to work beyond standard hours when needed to address maintenance needs.

This is an hourly, full-time position working the day shift Monday through Friday, including overtime as required. ACT provides a competitive salary and benefit package, including retirement plan.
