We are actively seeking community-focused individuals to partner with us and apply and become a Forensic Photo Specialist for Phoenix, Arizona, the 5th largest city in the United States.
Forensic Photo Specialists support investigations by working directly with officers and detectives to review, analyze, and process video and photographic evidence. Core responsibilities include:
- Retrieve surveillance footage from crime scenes.
- Enhance and process digital video.
- Upload audio, photo, and video files into a secure digital evidence management system.
- Scan, digitize, and convert legacy photographic formats.
- Fulfill media requests submitted by law enforcement personnel and criminal justice partners.
- Provide courtroom testimony regarding the handling, processing, and analysis of media evidence.
All duties must be performed in strict compliance with chain of custody standards. This is a hands-on, detail-oriented position that provides critical support to investigative efforts and contributes directly to the pursuit of justice.
This full-time position reports to a Shift Supervisor and works Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.
The position is located at 100 W. Washington. Standby rotation is required; overtime and a flexible work schedule may at times be required.
SALARY
Pay Range: $24.93 to $35.08 per hour.
Hiring Range: $24.93 to $30.31 per hour.

- Hiring range is an estimate of where you can receive an offer. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, training, and internal equity.
Internal Only: Please understand that this is pay grade 347. If selected, your salary offer will be based on the applicable promotion or demotion worksheet in accordance with the City Pay Ordinance.
- Promotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade increase.
- Demotions occur when the last two digits of the pay grade decrease.
- Lateral transfers occur when there is no change to the last two digits of the pay grade.
- When there is a change in the first digit of the pay grade, there may also be a change to your classification or unit.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Three years of experience in commercial digital photo and video editing.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted.
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Positions in the Police Department must meet the background standards that are appropriate to non-sworn positions. The general factors for disqualification are listed here.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus experience:
- With Adobe Premiere.
- Troubleshooting with network and digital video recorders.
- With editing in accordance with Arizona Public Records Law.
- Using digital records management systems, e.g., Xtender.
- Using Microsoft Creative Cloud.
- Able to perceive the full range of the color spectrum.
- Video Editing.
- Forensic Video.
- Digital Media.
