Job Title: Host / Busser

Job Overview:

We are seeking a friendly, proactive Host/Busser to join our front-of-house team. This role combines guest reception, seating management, table clearing and resetting, and supporting server, bar, and takeout/phone order operations as needed. The ideal candidate is upbeat, customer-focused, highly organized, and capable of multitasking in a fast-paced environment. Must be at least 18 years old to assist with running drinks when needed.

Key Responsibilities:

– Greet guests with a warm, welcoming demeanor as they enter the restaurant.

– Manage wait lists, reservations, and seating charts; optimally seat guests based on party size, server availability, and dining room flow.

– Provide accurate wait times and maintain clear communication with guests and team members.

– Assist servers and bussing team by clearing, resetting, and presenting tables promptly to maintain a clean and inviting dining area.

– Clear plates, silverware, glassware, and condiments from tables; wipe down tables, chairs, and high-touch surfaces; sweep and reset floors as needed.

– Refill water and bread presentations as appropriate; assist with beverage service when required and when licensed and trained.

– Help run food and drinks to tables for servers and bartenders when necessary and within legal and bar service guidelines.

– Stock service areas (bus stations, guest-facing counters) with clean dishes, silverware, napkins, condiments, and glassware; report any inventory needs to the supervisor.

– Maintain cleanliness of the dining room, including restrooms and entryway as required per shift.

– Monitor dining room for guest needs, respond to requests promptly, and escalate issues to supervisors as needed.

– Assist with closing procedures, including resetting tables, cleaning stations, and preparing the dining room for the next service.

– Accept and assist with takeout orders and phone orders; ensure accuracy of order details, communicate clearly with kitchen and front-of-house staff, and coordinate pickup times with guests as needed.

– Answer incoming phone calls, provide courteous service, take accurate orders for dine-in, takeout, and reservations, and relay information to the appropriate team members.

– Familiar with Toast POS; process or assist with transactions as needed (e.g., taking takeout/phone orders, ringing up items, and ensuring accurate order entry) in accordance with company policy and local regulations.

– Maintain knowledge of daily specials, menu items, and promotions to assist guests and takeout customers.

– Uphold health and safety standards, including food handling, sanitation, and temperature controls as applicable.

Qualifications:

– Age 18+ with the ability to assist with running drinks when required (per local regulations and company policy).

– Familiarity with Toast POS is a plus.

– Prior experience in a restaurant, hospitality, or food service environment is preferred but not required.

– Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; friendly, energetic, and professional demeanor.

– Strong multitasking, organization, and time-management abilities.

– Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing guest needs.

– Good verbal communication and listening skills; ability to take direction and work collaboratively.

– Basic math skills for handling seating/timing and transactions as needed.

– Physical ability to stand for extended periods, walk, carry trays, and lift up to 25-40 pounds as needed.

– Flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

– Food handling and sanitation knowledge is a plus; willingness to obtain any required certifications (e.g., safe service, alcohol awareness) if applicable by local laws and company policy.

Schedule and Compensation:

– Part-time opportunities available.

– Shifts may include lunch, dinner, weekends, and holidays.

– Compensation: $16.90 plus tips. Benefits: Meal discounts, California Paid Sick Leave.

Supervisory/Reporting Structure:

– Reports to Front-of-House Manager or Supervisors.

– Works closely with servers, bartenders, hosts, and takeout/phone order staff to ensure smooth service.
