Position Overview
We are seeking a highly qualified Maryland Security Compliance Officer to oversee regulatory compliance for our licensed security operations. This is a low-time, high-responsibility role requiring approximately 3 hours per week, with all compliance responsibility centralized under a single, experienced professional.
The ideal candidate will meet Maryland State Police Licensing Division experience requirements and will serve as the designated compliance authority for the organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary compliance officer for Maryland security licensing and regulatory matters
- Ensure ongoing compliance with Maryland State Police Licensing Division requirements for security guard agencies
- Oversee and maintain:
- Licensing status and renewals
- Employee eligibility and regulatory adherence
- Required documentation, filings, and portal submissions
- Review and approve internal security procedures to ensure regulatory alignment
- Serve as point of contact for audits, inquiries, or investigations
- Maintain oversight of insurance, fingerprinting, and required background compliance elements
- Provide periodic compliance checks and written confirmation of regulatory standing
Minimum Qualifications (Must Meet One of the Following – At a Single Organization)
Candidate must have verifiable full-time experience from one organization (not aggregated across multiple roles):
- 5+ years as a full-time police officer with an organized police agency, with approved training
- OR
- 5+ years as a licensed private detective
OR
- 3+ years in an investigative capacity within a law enforcement agency (with required training)
OROR
- 5+ years as a correctional supervisor in a Maryland correctional facility
- 5+ years as a fire investigator with appropriate certified trainingAll experience must meet Maryland licensing standards
Additional Requirements
- Must be 25 years or older
- Must be of good character and reputation
- Must be eligible to pass Livescan fingerprinting and background check
- Must be able to serve as a designated responsible compliance individual
- Familiarity with the Maryland Licensing Portal and regulatory process is strongly preferred
Work Structure
- Approximately 3 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
- Remote with occasional availability as needed for compliance matters
- Ongoing advisory role rather than operational security work
Compensation
- Competitive monthly retainer based on experience and qualification
- Structured for a compliance oversight role, not operational staffing
Pay: $65.00 – $80.00 per hour
