APP Engineering, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of recording and disturbance monitoring equipment used by power companies throughout the bulk electric system industry. Our equipment is installed in transmission substations and power plants to record system voltages, currents, power, and power system telemetry. APP Engineering is seeking a full-time Shipping Manager to oversee daily shipping operations and ensure accurate, timely delivery of products to customers.
Position Summary
The Shipping Manager is responsible for coordinating and overseeing all shipping and packaging operations. This role includes tracking and prioritizing orders, preparing shipping documentation, managing carrier relationships, supervising shipping personnel, and ensuring compliance with company procedures and safety standards. The Shipping Manager will work closely with multiple departments to ensure shipments are completed accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Minimum of five (5) years of shipping and logistics experience
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage daily packing and shipping operations to meet customer demand and company deadlines
- Coordinate with carriers to negotiate rates, schedule pickups, and resolve shipping issues to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery
- Ensure accuracy and completeness of packing slips, bills of lading, advanced shipping notices, and other shipping documentation
- Direct the flow of completed products from final testing through shipment
- Inspect labels, barcodes, packaging, and completed orders for accuracy and quality
- Resolve issues related to shipped orders and delivery discrepancies
- Package and ship APP Engineering recording equipment while ensuring all materials match internal documentation and customer purchase orders
- Arrange shipments with carriers, freight companies, and trucking providers
- Pack large recorder cabinets and assist with loading shipments onto trucks
- Submit shipping paperwork and documentation to office administration
- Verify accuracy and completeness of all required paperwork
- Maintain compliance with company policies, safety procedures, and applicable regulations
- Report shipping activities, operational concerns, and departmental issues to management
- Supervise shipping department personnel and assist with departmental workflow coordination
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of shipping, logistics, and warehouse procedures
- Excellent computer proficiency
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications, including Word and Excel
- Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively
- Proven ability to work independently and motivate others
- Ability to manage urgent and last-minute shipments efficiently
- Experience using hand tools, including drills and electric saws
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and as part of a team
- Ability to work overtime and Saturdays as needed
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record required
- Forklift certification required
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs occasionally
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs multiple times per day
Work Schedule
- Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Daily overtime and Saturday work may be required based on operational needs
